Inverell Shire council has invited members of the Rural and Regional Crime Inquiry Committee to visit Inverell as part of their investigations.
The Inquiry is being undertaken by the Legislative Assembly’s Committee on Law and Safety and focuses on the drivers of youth crime in regional areas and what actions can be taken to improve community safety.
Speaking on STA FM this morning, Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight says she will meet with Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan today to discuss the youth crime problem in the region which has been frustrating him lately.
Mr Moylan made representation to the committee on Council’s behalf expressing his support of a visit by the committee to Inverell to meet with locals and discuss the impacts and the concerns of locals about the incidence and severity of crime in the region
Mayor Dight says she would welcome the Rural and Regional Crime Inquiry Committee to visit Inverell.
