Laura Hughes, Labor Candidate for New England, has welcomed the Albanese Labor Government’s latest investment in women’s healthcare, ensuring more affordable access to contraception, endometriosis treatment, and IVF through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).
“These changes will make a real difference in the lives of women across New England and Australia,” Ms Hughes said. “Women have long called for more accessible, affordable healthcare – and Labor is delivering.”
From 1 May, Australian women will benefit from:
- New contraceptive options – Slinda®, a progestogen-only pill, will be listed on the PBS, giving more women a safe and affordable alternative.
- Better treatment for endometriosis – Ryeqo® will be available on the PBS, helping thousands of women who suffer from chronic pain.
- More accessible IVF treatments – Earlier and more affordable access to Pergoveris® will help more women on their fertility journey.
“These changes mean lower costs and better health outcomes,” Ms Hughes said. “Whether it’s contraception, endometriosis, or fertility treatment, the Albanese Labor Government is ensuring women get the healthcare they deserve.”
