Variety Bash Veteran to Reunite with Chicko Vehicle

A Variety Bash veteran who raised over $700,000 for the charity driving his 1964 Wolseley “Chiko Roll”, is set to reunite with the vehicle this Friday which is currently housed at the Inverell Transport Museum.

In an item in the Northern Daily Leader, 90-year-old John Lindsell, who was the first person to take part in 30 consecutive Variety bashes from 1989 to 2018, says they’re excited to be reunited with ‘Chiko’.

Back in 1989, Mr Lindsell was approached by a work colleague to take part in the annual bash, while working at Edgell Birds Eye, which makes Chicko Rolls and so began their long time sponsorship of the vehicle.

Transport Museum Volunteer Nellie Muller says the team is looking forward to the reunion adding there’s a lot of history behind the Chiko Roll Wolseley and many people remember it from the early days.
