NBN Fixed Wireless is Coming to Deepwater

by | Jun 4, 2026 | Media Release, Rural

More than 250 homes and businesses in and around Deepwater will soon be eligible for nbn fixed wireless under the Regional Digital Connectivity Program.

The New South Wales Government has contracted nbn to deliver fast, reliable nbn fixed wireless internet connectivity to homes and businesses in parts of regional NSW, including in Deepwater.

nbn’s delivery partner, Ventia, will soon begin construction, including installing the new fixed wireless tower.

An nbn fixed wireless service can enable access to a faster, more reliable nbn broadband service, delivering a range of benefits, including smoother, higher-resolution video calls, enhanced streaming, faster downloads, and the ability to connect more devices simultaneously.

With an nbn fixed wireless connection, the nbn broadband signal travels from the transmission tower using 4G technology and 5G mm Wave technology to an antenna installed on your roof, helping to deliver more coverage, minimise congestion, and offer access to speeds of up to 250Mbps.

NSW Minister for Agriculture, Regional NSW, and Western NSW Tara Moriarty said:

“This investment ensures the community has access to reliable, high-speed broadband that makes a genuine difference in everyday life. Local businesses, students, and families all benefit.”

“This NSW Government investment is a commitment to our regional communities. It helps keep them connected, supports families and local jobs, and lays the groundwork for a prosperous future.”

Head of nbn Local NSW Tom O’Dea said:

“The nbn Fixed Wireless network is a critical part of our infrastructure, supporting regional Australian homes and businesses with faster speeds and more reliable connectivity than ever before, even during the busiest times.

“Australians deserve access to fast, effective broadband, regardless of whether they live in a major city or a country town.”

Mayor of Glen Innes Severn Council Margot Davies said:

“This investment is welcome news for Deepwater and is a project which Council strongly championed.

“Improved connectivity in Deepwater will make it easier for people to work, study, run businesses, access healthcare and stay connected with family, services and opportunities.

“In regional communities, reliable digital connectivity is essential infrastructure that underpins socio-economic wellbeing, education, workforce participation, business growth, community resilience and access to opportunity in the modern economy.”
