Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan met with senior executives of Hunter New England Health District this week at the Armidale Hospital, to discuss a range of issues and initiatives that will improve health outcomes for the regional communities.
Mr Moylan says health was a top priority for him as a new MP and for everyone in the region, with his first meeting with the health district being frank, but also productive.
The MP says despite the lack of community confidence in the past, he says at the end of the day this is the region’s health service, however has told the Health District the community deserve accountability and transparency in our health system, adding that issues raised included the chronic staff shortages across the health profession – including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, patient transport vehicles, locum doctors and the urgent care model.
Mr Moylan has organised monthly meetings between himself, Health District senior executives and Mayors across the region, adding he is confident that Hunter New England Health will act to achieve better outcomes for the communities.
