The Bureau of Meteorology’s Long-Range forecast is suggesting wetter than average conditions for most of the eastern two thirds of Australia between August and October.
Senior Climatologist Dr Lynette Bettio says the chance of unusually wet conditions is elevated across much of eastern Australia, west of the Great Dividing Range.
Dr Bettio says daytime temperatures for August to October are likely to be above average for northern, western and south-eastern Australia while below average daytime temperatures are likely for the interior and some eastern parts of the country which is consistent with the wetter than average forecast and associated cloud cover.
She says night-time temperatures are very likely to be above average for most of Australia while across most of the eastern half of the country, there’s a high chance of unusually warm night-time temperatures.
