Inverell Saints Women’s team will join their men’s counterpart in this Saturday’s AFL Northwest Grand Finals after they outclassed the Tamworth Swans by 15 points in the Preliminary Final at No 1 Oval. on Saturday.
The Saints got out off the blocks early kicking 4 first quarter goals before the Swans fought back in the second quarter to trail by 7 points at half time.
The second half was an arm wrestle before the Saints steadied to run out 7.4.46 to 4.7.31 victors.
Saints Coach captain Claire McCosker says they started to find their rhythm again and put together some good passages of play through the middle and into their forward line adding if they can string together more minutes of that footy next weekend, they’ll give themselves a good chance against the Gunnedah Poochettes in this weekend’s Grand final.
Meantime, the Inverell Saints Men will face the Tamworth Swans in this weekend’s Grand Final after the Swans defeated their cross-town rival, the Kangaroos 12.15.87 to 7.8.50.
It will he 4th consecutive time the Saints Men will face the Swans in a Grand final while it’ll be the 5th time the Saints Women will tackle the Poochettes in a season decider.
