Lawyers defending a man facing stalking accusations in Uralla may be filing for a mental health diversion forcing the case to be delayed.
Stephen Ronald Hollis, who appeared via video link from Junee Correctional Centre for the mention, is alleged to have stalked multiple people in Uralla, including a child, in February driving a silver Holden commodore.
The Northern Daily Leader reports that Hollis’ solicitor Emma Dakin told acting Judge Sharron Crews that a mental health report had been sought and that there was likely to be an application to have Hollis diverted when the matter was mentioned in Armidale Local Court on Monday.
Ms Dakin said a justice health report had returned but declared that she needed time to find suitable long-term accommodation for Hollis to be granted a diversion.
She asked the court to allow six weeks to find a suitable address for Hollis.
The matter is set for mention again in September.
