Uralla will come alive with the Christmas spirit, when its inaugural Christmas Street Fair – a free event filled with festive activities for all ages is staged on Friday 22 November from 5 – 9pm,
Among the highlights will be a Live Nativity Play, featuring local children (and livestock) in the stables behind newly renovated The Bolt Inn with performances at 5 and 5:30pm.
Next door, at Little Birdy, step into Santa’s Toy Workshop, where you can make your own wooden toys hosted by the Uralla Community Neighbourhood Centre.
Across the road, have Free Christmas Portraits taken by a professional photographer in Uralla’s historic ‘Joint Stock Bank’, with its beautifully preserved 1890s drawing room and stunning 14-foot Christmas tree as your backdrop.
All along the main street you’ll find great food, live music and unique attractions, including a mysterious magician’s tent and the North Pole Post Office, where you can write letters to Santa and receive handwritten replies in the lead-up to Christmas.
At The Sweet Place, you can order a live Christmas tree to be cut and delivered from a nearby farm, raising funds for Friends of McMaugh Gardens.
A special Salisbury Street Christmas Market will feature over 30 stalls of local artisans and producers, showcasing handmade creations and delicious treats.
Nearby, at McCrossin’s Mill Museum, you can meet the big man himself in Santa’s Grotto. There’s also free gingerbread decorating, live music and the Mill kitchen in full swing.
In the adjoining stables, a special Wishing Tree can be found in the new Seasons of New England store, with gifts left under their tree distributed to local families in need. Seasons also offers complimentary gift wrapping for purchases made at the Salisbury Street Christmas Market.
At 6:30pm, everyone is invited to Pioneer Park for Sing-Along Carols, followed by the illumination of Uralla’s new main streetlights and first-ever Christmas tree – a striking giant spiral centrepiece of the new Fibonacci-inspired Park.
Don’t tell the kids that The Pie Mechanic will be serving limited edition Reindeer Pies, and for those seeking a little extra Christmas cheer, there will be live music and food served at New England Brewing Company, while Uralla favourite The Top Pub are offering a specialty Christmas cocktail.
Best of all, the Uralla Christmas Street Fair is an entirely free event created by the people of Uralla, proudly funded by The NSW Government’s Open Streets Program and Uralla Shire Council.
