Two men have been sentenced while a third pleaded guilty to three counts of affray following a brawl which led a stabbing at the Armidale Show last year believed to have been borne out from a “long-standing feud”.
Court documents revealed two males aged 20 and 16 were walking on Kennedy Street outside the showground when they were approached by a large group of men where it’s alleged a young person, who cannot be legally named and has already been given a 15-month jail term, produced a knife and stabbed the older male.
In an item in the Northern Daily Leader, defence lawyers for Bailey Sunderland and Leeton Munro-Johnson say their clients had been exposed to domestic violence at a young age, but that outside of the attack they were both men starting their 20s with steady work and were otherwise contributing members of society and sought leaner sentences.
Judge Mark Richardson sentenced Sunderland to a conditional release order and also ordered to stay more than 200km away from Armidale, Munro-Johnson was sentenced to an 18-month community correction order with curfew conditions while Malekai Landsborough pleaded guilty to three counts of affray and had entered guilty pleas for a separate fight with the Court seeking a sentencing report to weigh up options for his sentencing.
