The Northern Tablelands is set to experience snowfall at the beginning of the week as temperatures start to plummet in the region.
The flurry is due to a prolonged outbreak of frigid air with Antarctic origins and will envelope southeastern Australia for most of next week from this weekend onwards.
Wedged between a strong high pressure system centred over the Bight and a low in the Tasman Sea, the lingering, bitterly cold airmass will bring on temperatures into the minus figures for several days.
Weatherzone meteorologist Felix Levesque says snow levels could drop below 1000m by midweek as a new influx of moisture kicks in, with areas like Guyra and Ben Lomond likely to be impacted the most by snowfalls.
