Barnaby Joyce needs to explain what One Nation’s migration policy would actually mean for families, farmers and small businesses across New England.
One Nation says net overseas migration will be negative for three years, but has not said what the number will be in year one, year two or year three.
If it is negative, how negative?
There is also no published dollar cost to the federal budget and no PBO costing attached to the announcement.
Mr Joyce needs to explain what this means on the ground.
What does it mean for a publican in Tamworth who cannot find staff?
What does it mean for farmers, builders, aged care providers and other regional businesses trying to get workers?
These are basic questions Mr Joyce should be able to answer:
- What will NOM be in year one, year two and year three?
- What will the policy cost the Budget?
- Has it been independently costed?
- What will it mean for workers and small businesses across New England?
Migration has been too high under Labor. Numbers need to come down and standards need to go up.
The Coalition’s plan will bring migration down, raise standards and cap migration to the number of homes Australia can actually build.
We will also get more homes built by cutting red tape and backing the infrastructure needed to unlock new housing, while putting Australians first.
