NSW Rural Fire Service brigades from Inverell, Gum Flat and Gilgai were called in to assist property owners in extinguishing a fire on the Copeton Dam Rd yesterday afternoon.
Crews responded to the fire just before 5pm which is believed to have started by a lightning strike.
Around 10 hectares were burnt out and the NSW Rural Fire Service state there was no threat to nearby properties.
Angus McDowell from the NSW Rural Fire Service warned residents that there is still a threat of grass fires eventuating from lighting strikes despite the recent weather and encouraged people to remain vigilant.
