Seven persons have been arrested by Inverell Police for outstanding matters since last Thursday afternoon.
Inspector of Inverell Police Blake Keating says these arrests are connected to a range of offences including outstanding arrest warrants, property offences, traffic matters, and violence offences, whereby Inverell Police had conducted investigations and had been actively seeking the individual’s arrest.
In one case, an 11-year-old boy was arrested last Thursday for malicious damage, trespass, and breach of bail following reports of two youths smashing windows at a business on Byron Street and were later observed at a residential premises casing properties.
By 6pm Thursday, police had made the arrest of the boy who was initially refused bail and appeared via video link to Parramatta Children’s Court on Good Friday where bail granted by the court.
Inspector Keating says he’s very pleased with the efforts of his staff with the arrests, given the extra responsibility and pressure on them caused by the influx of extra persons to the township which on its own has increased their general workload.
