Big crowds have turned out for the Lions Inverell, Youth of the Year Awards at the Sporties last night.
Four Macintyre high school students had the opportunity to share their thoughts on prepared speeches as well has two impromptu questions.
Contestants Edie Morton, Olivia Madden, Daniela Justo and Jacqueline Paton presented their speeches with confidence ranging from topics such as inflation to HECS Debts, with Jacqueline Paton taking home the winning trophy which grants her a place in the next round in March here in Inverell.
The event was a great hit, and the Lions Club are hoping to see more contestants for next year competition.
Meantime, Inverell Lions also handed out long service awards to Lions Philip Beeton for 30 years and John McGufficke for 15 years of commitment to the Club.
