Fire crews, assisted by heavy plant and aircraft, have managed to contain a fast-moving fire in the Howell Rd area near Tingha on Saturday.
Angus McDowell from the NSW Rural Fire Service Northern Tablelands Team says the fire a private property pile burn and burned out 26 hectares of land.
Mr McDowell says if not for the quick actions of fire crews and aircraft, the situation could’ve been much worse considering the weather conditions on Saturday.
Investigations are continuing into how the fire escaped the pile burn.
Mr McDowell urges people considering burns on the properties to ensure they’ve carried out their safe burning checklist before lighting up and also check weather conditions.
