Inverell’s community spirit was again on show on Saturday at the inaugural r at Inverell Sporties with the event going well past midnight.
Organiser Brock Mather says between 400 and 500 people attended the fundraiser and was impressed that everyone put in the effort to get dressed for the event.
The final tally for the fundraiser, with monies raised to be distributed to families battling illness, is yet to be known with Mr Mather believing they’ve raised well over $20,000 for the night.
He says he was amazed that the Yabby races alone raised around $10,000 such was the charity shown by the community.
Mr Mather says the talk after the event is that this will become an annual fundraiser, such was its success.
