Organisers of the inaugural Inverell Charity Run 2026, held earlier this month have been overwhelmed by the response to the event with around $12,000 raised.
The fundraising event for the Inverell Breast and Prostate Cancer Support Groups and Operation Operating Room drew over 250 people with local athlete Luke Readett, who’s heading to the USA to run in a series of cross country events in September, winning the 10km run.
12yr old, Marley Legg from Moree took out the 5 km event while the 2.5 km race had about 50 runners and was taken out by local Dennis Holmes.
Kel Butler from the organizing committee says they’re amazed by the towns generosity with businesses incredibly supportive and people seeming to be genuinely excited about the day.
