Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight will spend her mayoral minutes at today’s council meeting to pay tribute to local businessman Les Parsons OAM who passed away early this month at the age of 90.
Mayor Dight will highlight Mr Parson’s contributions to the community including President of Inverell Lions Club, assisted in the formation of Inverell Volunteer Rescue Association, Chair of the Inverell Australia Day Committee, Member of the Inverell/Tulare Sister City Committee, President of Inverell Sapphire City Festival Committee, Captain and Deputy Captain of Inverell Bushfire Brigade, Chair of Inverell Business Enterprise Centre, member of Inverell Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was also a founding member of the Australian Olive Association.
Mayor Dight says the tourism industry was a passion for Mr Parsons, and he dedicated much of his time to organisations and initiatives to drive the Visitor Economy and promote his beloved community.
She says Mr Parsons leaves behind an extraordinary legacy, through which his memory and dedication to the community will live on.
