A petition has been launched with NSW Parliament in a bid to address youth crime in rural and regional areas.
Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan says the petition seeks to strengthen bail laws to prevent violent young offenders from re-offending, provide increased resources and support to police officers to effectively apprehend and prosecute offenders; and review the judicial system to prioritise community safety.
Mr Moylan says like everyone in his electorate and around the state, he’s fed up with the crime and the Government has to act.
He says if this e-petition receives at least 20,000 signatures, then the Government will be required to debate it.
Speaking on STA FM last week, Mr Moylan says the community is frustrated by repeat offenders getting off lightly
