The region is starting to feel the effects of Tropical Cyclone Alfred as it approaches southeast QLD and the north coast of NSW.
The cyclone is expected to make landfall along the Southeast Queensland Coast sometime today with heavy rainfall and damaging winds extending to the south of the centre of the system over parts of the Northern Tablelands.
Weather Company Weatherzone says winds reaching between 60 to 65 km/h will be experienced in Inverell with rain coming in over the weekend.
Weatherzone forecast falls of between 1-5 mm tomorrow and 20-40 mm on Sunday with wet conditions expected next week
