by | Dec 10, 2024 | Sport | 0 comments

Local cricketers were back on pitches over the weekend with the wet weather forcing both games to be played at Cameron Park as part of round 8 of the Inverell Cricket competition.

The match of the round was between Campbell and Freebairn Rebels and Staggy Creek with the game turning out to be a one-sided contest.

The Rebels, led by club stalwarts Brendon Campbell with 88 and Dave Mudaliar 76 amassed 4/241 and in reply, Staggy Creek were never in the hunt being dismissed for 104.

Mick Kenny top scored with 39 while youngster Lachie Savage and Tony Blake each picked up 3 wickets.

Square and Compass overcame Delungra by 54 runs in the other match with Jai Tasker starring with bat and ball.

Tasker top scored with 74 and claimed 3 wickets in the win which now sees Square and Compass jump to the top of the points table with one match left prior to the Christmas New Year Break.
