Seven people have been charged with alleged drug, firearm and DV-related offences following an investigation in the state’s New England region.
Officers attached to New England Police District established Strike Force Harpool to investigate the alleged supply of stolen firearms and drugs in the region.
As part of investigations, strike force officers arrested a 39-year-old man on Yetman Road, Inverell, about 3am on Saturday 11 July 2026.
Police searched and allegedly located 500g of cannabis and cash in his possession.
He was taken to Inverell Police Station, where he was charged with 13 offences:
- Supply prohibited drug less than or equal to small quantity (two counts)
- Supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis (two counts)
- Use, supply, acquire, possess stolen firearm or part
- Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity
- Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic) (four counts)
- Reckless wounding (DV)
- Intentionally choke etc person without consent (DV)
- Destroy or damage property (DV)
About 7.20am the same day, a 23-year-old woman was arrested at Inverell Police Station and was charged with nine offences:
- Supply prohibited drug less than or equal to small quantity (six counts)
- Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than indictable quantity
- Supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis
- Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic)
The pair were refused bail and faced Bail Division Court 5 the following day (Sunday 12 July 2026), where both were formally refused bail to reappear before Inverell Local Court on Thursday 23 July 2026.
Later that day, following inquiries, strike force officers executed three search warrants at three separate locations in Warialda.
During the searches, strike force officers allegedly located and seized a small amount of methylamphetamine and cannabis.
Following further inquiries, on Tuesday 14 July 2026, strike force officers executed further search warrants at locations in Warialda and Pallamallawa.
Following further enquiries, about 8am on Wednesday 15 July 2026, strike force officers executed a search warrant at a house on Herbert Street, Inverell.
During the search, police allegedly located and seized 15g of cocaine, 18g of methylamphetamine, 41g MDMA, a small amount of cannabis and mobile phones.
Two men – aged 28 and 36 – were arrested at the location and taken to Inverell Police Station.
The 36-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis and possess prohibited drug.
The 28-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug greater than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity.
Both men were granted strict conditional bail to appear before Inverell Local Court on Thursday 6 August 2026.
Following further enquiries, a 26-year-old man was served a Future Court Attendance Notice on Thursday 16 July 2026 for 19 offences:
- Supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis (two counts)
- Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic)
- Supply prohibited drug less than or equal to small quantity (three counts)
- Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity (four counts)
- Acquire etc pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order
- Use, supply, acquire, possess stolen firearm or part (four counts)
- Sell ice pipe
- Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime
- Acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order
- Acquire ammunition for firearm without licence/permit
He is due to appear before Moree Local Court on Monday 17 August 2026.
Following further enquiries, a 46-year-old woman was served a Future Court Attendance Notice on the same day, for four offences including supply prohibited drug less than or equal to small quantity (two counts) and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime (two counts).
She will face Inverell Local Court on Thursday 27 August 2026.
Following further inquiries, a 31-year-old man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice yesterday (Monday 20 July 2026), for possess prohibited drug.
He is due to appear before Inverell Local Court on Thursday 20 August 2026.
Strike force officers will allege the two men aged 39 and 26 were involved in the supply of firearm parts within the New England region.
