Inverell Saints have scored two big wins over the Gunnedah Bulldogs on Saturday and are one step closer to hosting this year’s AFL Northwest Grand Finals.
The Women registered their biggest win over their archrival, the Poochettes to record a 10.8.68 to 0.1.1 victory, to remain unbeaten this season with coach Georgia Chappell believing her team passed a big test on the weekend saying it’s rare to beat Gunnedah on their home patch.
The win sees the Saints two games clear with percentage from the Poochettes on the AFL Northwest ladder with the hosting rights for this year’s finals series following the women’s competition.
The Men continued their dominance over the Bulldogs with a 21.22.148 to 3.9.27 win.
Men’s Coach Matt Harrison says the scoreline didn’t indicate the true physicality of the game.
In Tamworth, both games were one-sided affairs with the Kangaroos men thumping the New England Nomads 23.22.160 to 7.1.43 while the Roo girls had a 68-point win over Nomads
