Police were out in force on the road and water in Inverell, Ashford and surroundings areas during the Australia Day long weekend.
New England Police District, assisted by the Dog Unit and Peel Highway Patrol, patrolled Copeton and Pindari Dams and surrounding roadways targeting risky driver or boating behaviour and to educate members of the public about safety.
Police conducted breath and drug testing on the roadways as well as the required safety checks on vessels.
Officers conducted more than 80 random breath tests, with one mid-range drink driving charge laid.
Police also stopped a driver in Warialda who allegedly tested positive in a random drug test and one driver was detected in Inverell driving while unlicensed.
Police also issued cautions boat and watercraft users.
