Inverell auctioneer Justin Oakenfull is preparing for a trip of a lifetime when heads to the Calgary Stampede next week to represent Australia in the International Livestock Auctioneer Championships next Friday.
The territory sales manager based at Elders Inverell, won his place into the competiiton after winning the prestigious national title at the ALPA Young Auctioneers Competition at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney in April.
Competitors will be judged on rhythm, clarity, voice control, and livestock knowledge, as well as their ability to spot bids and conduct a sale while the finalists will be required to sell brand consignment cattle and one Black Box item.
Mr Oakenfull says he’ll be competing against 40 other auctioneers from around the world with most hailing from the U.S and Canada.
He says the American auctioneering style is completely different to his but is looking forward to the experience.
