New England MP Regrets Backing Renewables

by | Nov 21, 2024 | Community, Environment, Politics | 0 comments

New England MP Barnaby Joyce says he regrets backing renewable energy projects in his electorate whilst being the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia.

Speaking on STA FM yesterday, Mr Joyce says he did change his mind about wind and solar projects in the New England after being more informed on the issue adding the projects went from a novelty to a parasite.

Mr Joyce turned the first sod at the White Rock wind farm in 2016 saying at the time that the project and other clean energy projects proposed for the region will ensure the New England is a major player in the field adding clean energy is essential to meet our emissions reduction targets.

He says if he had his time back again, he wouldn’t have sided with renewable power projects in the region adding he regrets his decision.
