Northern Tablelands MP Brendan Moylan has called on NSW Premier Chris Minns to step in and assist rural water users in the light of a recommendation which may see them experience a 245% hike in water prices over 5 year, if implemented
Speaking on STA FM this morning, Mr Moylan says NSW Water and Ministerial of Water Corporation have sent a recommendation to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory tribunal, proposing the hike for rural water users.
Mr Moylan says previously, a similar recommendation for Sydney water users had the Premier stepping in, requesting IPART take into consideration the current state of the economy, interest rates and the cost of living requirements.
He says the premier cannot forget about the people in the bush and called on Mr Minns to act.
