McLean Care in Inverell has issued redundancy notices to employees who provide In-Home care services to their nearly 2000 clients.
Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight says she was contacted by McLean Interim CEO Jill Davidson last week who delivered the news adding the In-Home Care programs provided by McLean had been taken over by Australian Unity.
Mayor Dight says the plan had been for McLean to source a new provider and hand over their whole business model in its entirety but a decision by the Federal government to appoint Australian Unity to take over has put a stop to that plan.
She says they’re hoping affected employees may be re-employed by Australian Unity as they will need a workforce to provide these services.
