The Inverell Breast Cancer Support Group are expanding their hand-outs to include men who are battling a cancer journey.
Announced at their Mother’s Day Luncheon last week, Group President Trish Keitley says after being approached by several members of the community who have male relatives diagnosed with cancer, the organisation decided to provide financial relief to those men battling various types of cancers except Prostrate.
Ms Keatley says they didn’t want to step on the feet of the local prostrate groups’ fundraising efforts but found there was a gap for men battling other types of cancers
Although still prioritising women, the Support Group made the decision at their executive meeting last month with Ms Keitley highlighting men have been a major contributor towards their fundraising efforts and have already assisted three men.
She added this will continue until funds are exhausted.
