Inverell trainer Todd Payne says his runner Lisztomania ran unbelievably well in Saturday’s $1 million Country championships at Randwick.
Trailing the favourite Gallant Star into the straight, Lisztomania peeled off his heels to range up and hit the front in the shadows of the post only to be run down by the $5 chance Know Thyself.
Jockey Tim Clark says he had a beautiful run throughout following Gallant Star and just came up short but proud of his effort.
Payne says he’s so proud of the whole team and of the horse stessing he tried his heart out.
He says to get beat a lip on the biggest stage in Australian racing is unbelievable adding the prize money unbelievable adding it’s life changing for the owners.
Lisztomania hasn’t missed a feed and looks fantastic after returning yesterday.
Payne says they’ll look to head back down for 1 more race in Sydney before he has a little rest and then be set for the $2 million Kosciusko in October where he believes the horse will be a massive chance.
