Shadow Minister for Veterans Affairs Barnaby Joyce remains disappointed that the Senate didn’t pass the bill to streamline veterans’ entitlements and payments while 32 other bills were passed.
It follows the government vowing to implement “historic” and enduring reforms to key defence, military and veterans’ bodies on Monday after a scathing report handed down by the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide found current systems were grossly lacking.
The New England MP says he would work in a bipartisan manner with the government to expediate the matter but is worried the passage of the Bill will be further delayed if an election is called.
Mr Joyce says a very important recommendation from the Royal Commission should’ve been passed to make the lives of veterans better.
