Inverell Shire Council to Consider Salvos Donation

by | May 27, 2025 | Local Government | 0 comments

Inverell Shire Council will consider a request for a donation to support the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal at tomorrow’s monthly Council meeting.

Council recently received correspondence from former mayor Mal Peters requesting council to consider making a donation to this year’s Red Shield appeal which culminated over the weekend.

It follows the Inverell Salvation Army calling on the community to support the annual drive which raises money to support people struggling most in the region.

The Salvos Wendy-Sue Swan says they’re privileged to support those in Inverell Shire experiencing hardship but stresses they cannot do this without the ongoing and loyal support of the community.

In its business papers, council state The Salvation Army is not included in the annual donations in Council’s Donation Policy, however it does meet certain assessment criteria including ‘Delivering a positive social or cultural outcome’ and a demonstrated need for the project / program’
