The Inverell High Year 12 Legal Studies class had the privilege yesterday of attending a presentation by Senior Constable Fiona McCormack and Constable Chris Duncan as part of their first HSC unit on Crime.
The engaging presentation complemented their learning about police powers and the criminal justice system in NSW, with Senior Constable McCormack and Constable Duncan on hand to provide valuable insights from a NSW Police perspective, covering topics such as the Law Enforcement Police Powers Act 2002 for NSW, the Young Offenders Act 1997 for NSW, the NSW legal system, bail/remand, and criminal procedures.
Students also had the unique opportunity to examine police equipment, including handcuffs and a baton, up close, with the session concluding with a Q&A, allowing students to deepen their understanding of key legal concepts.
The school and students thanked Senior Constable McCormack and Constable Duncan for sharing their time and expertise with the students.
