Hot Christmas Week Ahead

by | Dec 23, 2024 | Weather | 0 comments

Christmas Day will be hot and dry for most of Australia this year, with temperatures hovering in the low to mid 30s for most parts of the New England and almost 40 degrees in Tamworth.

A lack of monsoon cloud cover in the lead up to Christmas will allow a large and hot air mass to build over the continent during the coming week, affecting a large proportion of Australia over the Christmas period, causing oppressive heat in several states.

Meteorologist Ben Domensino says without much cloud cover over Australia this Christmas, there won’t be too much rain forecast, bringing with it the risk of a high fire danger rating to the region.

He says there’s also a low risk of Tropical Cyclones hitting South East QLD and that both residents and holidaymakers visiting the area will likely not see a repeat of the intense thunderstorms that hit on December 25 last year.
