Highlanders Pipped

by | Jun 16, 2025 | Sport | 0 comments

It was a case of so close but yet so far for the Inverell Highlanders who pushed reigning premiers Narrabri Blue Boars on Saturday only to go down 36-31 in a nailbiter at Rugby Park in Round 6 action in the Central North Rugby Competition.

1st grade coach Gemma Noller says it was the Highlanders best 40 minutes played in the first half but injuries and fatigue took its toll late in the game.

She says it takes time for combinations to gel considering they have seven new players in the starting side.

In the other 1st grade game, Gunnedah Red Devils held on to defeat the Quirindi Lions 34-33 in another thriller.

It wasn’t a great weekend for the Highlanders, going down in Reserve grade and Women’s 10 to Narrabri.
