Hunter New England Health Local Health District has responded to Glen Innes Severn Council call for the NSW Government to publicly reaffirm its commitment to completing the full Glen Innes Hospital masterplan and expanding health services, following recent correspondence sent to NSW Minister for Health Ryan Park.
Mayor Margot Davis says Council had written formally to the Minister seeking clarity and assurance that the current stage of works would not be the end of the redevelopment, and that future stages delivering expanded clinical services would proceed as originally planned.
A Hunter New England Health Local Health District spokesperson says they will continue to engage with Glen Innes Severn Council and other local stakeholders throughout the redevelopment but did not give any clarity or assurances sought by Mayor Davis
In a statement to STA FM, the spokesperson says Construction is underway on the $50 million Glen Innes Hospital redevelopment, to deliver a new acute services building on the existing hospital campus adding the new acute services building will include an expanded emergency department, medical imaging, ambulance drop-off and bays, mortuary and a new main entrance.
Hunter New England Local Health District Glen Innes Hospital Full Statement
Hunter New England Local Health District spokesperson:
Construction is underway on the $50 million Glen Innes Hospital redevelopment, to deliver a new acute services building on the existing hospital campus.
The new acute services building will include an expanded emergency department, medical imaging, ambulance drop-off and bays, mortuary and a new main entrance.
The Glen Innes Hospital continues to operate during construction, providing ongoing care for the Glen Innes and surrounding communities.
The redevelopment design prioritises areas of clinical need, while allowing for future expansion.
The hospital is part of a network of acute hospitals and community health services across Hunter New England Local Health District, ensuring patients have access to the care and treatment they need, as close to home as possible.
We continue to engage with Glen Innes Severn Council and other local stakeholders throughout the redevelopment.
