Hawks Score Late Tries to Swoop the Tigers

The Inverell Hawks have stormed home to claim the local derby against the Tingha Tigers 30-20 at Varley Oval in Round 5 action in the Group 19 Rugby League competition.

The Tigers got out to a 20-10 lead during the second half before the Hawks rallied to claim the victory.

Despite the win, Hawks coach Jamie McCormack says the team’s overall performance was below par and will need to improve moving forward.

On other games, Glen Innes Magpies were too good for the Guyra Super Spuds winning 14-6, and Narwan upset the Uralla Tigers 26-14.

Winners in ladies League Tag – Tingha 50 over Inverell 6, Glen Innes too strong for Guyra 34-4 while Narwan scored an 18-0 win over Uralla.

In Reserve Grade, Inverell pipped Tingha 18-16 while Warialda overcame Glen Innes 24-20.
