Harmon Points to Fractured Relationship with Current Mayor

by | Feb 28, 2025 | Local Government | 0 comments

Former Inverell Shire Mayor Paul Harmon has hinted at a fractured relationship with his former Deputy now Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight following his resignation on Wednesday from Council.

Speaking on STA FM yesterday, Mr Harmon says there were several reasons why he decided to resign from Council with one being the loss of trust and friendship from people he had worked with for a long time.

Asked whether his relationships with Mayor Dight was fractured, Mr Harmon was blunt saying ‘jokingly I’ve been ‘stabbed in the back twice by Deputy’s and the scars are still there.

Mayor Dight says she was unaware of any fracture in the relationship with Mr Harmon adding she wished him well with his future ventures

She paid credit to Mr Harmon for the work he has done for her personally and the Shire over the years, adding Council now needs to move forward.
