Gwydir Shire Council have now received the remaining results from the water samples in Warialda taken last week, with the High School bore showing no detectable levels of PFAS.
The Crane St bore, while meeting the parameters of the current drinking water guidelines, is still slightly over the proposed 2025 guideline levels, meaning that both this bore, and the Hospital Park bore will no longer be used.
Council have advised the northern reservoir requires more aggressive emptying and flushing which will be undertaken by isolating the southern reservoir and drawing all water from the northern reservoir until its level reaches approximately 25%, after which, the south reservoir will be brought back online to balance out with the northern reservoir.
The advice from NSW Health remains unchanged with drinking town still deemed safe for consumption in the short term, however council will continue to offer free bottled water to residents from the Warialda Visitor Information Centre, with water to also be delivered to each household tomorrow.
