Former NSW Senator Frustrated with NBN Co

by | Mar 18, 2025 | Lifestyle, Business | 0 comments

Former Nationals Senator John Williams remains frustrated at the delay of having his NBN Co’s new fixed wireless service, connected into his new Inverell home.

Mr Williams says he signed up to become a customer of NBN Co’s new fixed wireless service last month, but the government-owned telco has cancelled and rescheduled his connection more than a dozen times.

In an item in the Australian Newpaper, Mr Williams says after visiting the Inverell Telstra store on February 11, they were told they would be connected by February 25. Now it is likely to be on the 31st March – although Mr Williams is not confident but did not blame the local Telstra store for the delay.

Speaking on STA FM yesterday, Mr Williams says NBN Co have spent $750 million, and they haven’t got people out in the bush to install it, labelling the initiative as a hell of a waste of money.

He says governments running businesses doesn’t work too well adding the private sector would operate it better but questioned who would buy it.
