Fire permits have been suspended for the Inverell Local Government Area for today.
The suspension is due to the forecast High Fire Danger for the region with this measure taken to reduce the risk of fires starting and spreading under the heightened fire conditions.
NSW Rural Fire Service remind landholders with a currently fire permit, that they are unable to light new fires or stoke up existing fires during the suspension period.
Landholders are urged to ensure any planned burns or activities requiring a permit are postponed adding heavy penalties apply for breaches of fire regulations.
