NSW Rural Fire Service crews from Inverell, Elsmore and Gilgai along with Fire & Rescue NSW crews from Inverell were called to a house fire at Oakwood yesterday afternoon.
Crews were called just after 3pm to the house on Dintonvale Rd and upon arrival found the house well alight.
The fire was extinguished shortly after, but the house was totally destroyed.
No one was in the house at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and is under investigation.
Angus McDowell from the NSW Rural Fire Service Northern Tablelands Team says the fire is a reminder to families to ensure they have a fire plan prepared and all members know where their meeting place is in the event of an evacuation.
