Volunteers are being called to assist the Delungra District Development Council after long time stalwart Jim Townsend and Lorna Ogilvie advised they’re scaling down their participation on the committee.
Mr Townsend and Ms Ogilvie says due to their health, they’re unable to help out in setting up various ceremonies forcing the remaining members of the committee to abandon their Remembrance Day ceremony, Christmas Street banners and judging of the home festive lights display for this year.
Chairperson of the Delungra District Development Council Elizabeth Sheather says unfortunately no volunteers or offers of assistance has been received to cover the loss of Mr Townsend and Ms Ogilvie.
Ms Sheather says Australia Day and Anzac day ceremonies next year are still up in their air and won’t go ahead unless members of the community come forward and take on jobs
A meeting will be held to discuss the future of the community celebrations this Monday at 4pm at the Delungra Bowlo.
