Inverell Shire Council’s Emergency Services Levy will increase by over $23,000 for the next financial year.
Council’s contributions to the NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW SES and Fire and Rescue NSW will grow to $573,500 for the 2025/26 financial year from $550,384 for 2024/25 with the majority of this increase relating to NSW Rural Fire Service contributions increasing by $23,243.
In its Business Papers, Council state its Emergency Service Levy contribution has increased by $269,686 or 88.75% since 2015/2016.
Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight says despite Council budgeting more for the levy this financial year, costs are rising which is due to the cost shifting practises of the state government.
