Inverell Shire Council have deliberated over requests from Community groups following last week’s Council meeting.
The Inverell Show Society had requested $15,000 from Council to contribute to the production costs of this year’s Inverell Show while the Inverell Polocrosse Club was seeking assistance to run the 2025 Swan Cup.
Inverell Shire Mayor Kate Dight confirmed Council won’t be giving extra funding to the Show Society adding they have a sound financial position while the Polocrosse Club will receive assistance through Councils water cart and grandstand facilities adding in the past Council has given them seed funding to establish the Swan Cup.
She says Council needs to be careful how they distribute rate payer funds.
