The countdown is on to this Saturday’s Sapphire Speed Shear in the car park of Inverell’s Royal Hotel, raising money for mental health and suicide prevention.
Shearers from across the district have sharpened and oiled their blades, ready for a massive day on the board with categories for novice, intermediate, senior and open sections.
Committee spokesperson Sarah Furze says they’ll have a raffle and charity auction on the day with every dollar raised going towards supporting much-needed mental health awareness and support in our local community.
An auction of a signed Indigenous All Stars jersey will be a highlight of the day with money raised going directly to Luke French and his family to financial assist them with Luke’s cancer battle
Shearer Nominations will be taken from 9:30am Saturday morning with the event kicks off at 11am.
Last year’s event raised over $11,000 for Centacare New England Northwest
