Boxing Day Deal Scams

by | Dec 20, 2024 | Business, Lifestyle | 0 comments

As consumers gear up to snag a Boxing Day deal, shoppers are being warned to keep a close eye on the websites they are browsing, with new research revealing risky shopping behaviours have risen by 9% since last year.

While attempting to save time while shopping, three in four Aussies admit to engaging in distracted shopping, increasing their potential to be targeted by scammers.

Bonnie Brady from PayPal Australia says while 91% of Australians have encountered a scam, one in ten Australians have fallen victim to fraudulent website purchases, and nearly a third have been directed to fake sites.

Ms Brady says scammers go out to target consumers during online events like Boxing Day.
