Two Inverell women, aged 40 and 28, will face Inverell Local Court in May following a shoplifting incident at a supermarket in Byron Street, Inverell last night .

About 7:15pm, the two women are alleged to have stolen approximately $500 worth of groceries from the Byron Street store.

Inverell Police, in response to a call from supermarket staff, intercepted the women’s vehicle at an address in Stirling Street where the stolen property was sighted in their vehicle.

Both women were arrested moments later after entry was forced to their premises and the stolen property was recovered.

Both will be facing the court in May for the offence of larceny. 

The stolen property has since been returned to the supermarket.
