Gwydir Shire Council have decided to delay the opening of the Bingara Swimming pool complex until their satisfied it is suitable for the public to use.
Issues with the pool pump and filtration systems during the off season forced Council to seek specialists to resolve the issue which caused the walls of the pool to become stained.
Council stated that the water was not circulating while the pumps were stopped, and a lot of organic matter lay for a long time on the bottom of the pool.
A decision was made this week to empty the pool and pressure wash the walls and floor to ensure the pool and water is of the highest quality and presentation.
The pool was emptied by Bingara RFS and SES personnel who also assisted with the scrubbing of the pool shell and Council admit they’re not sure how many days it will take to get the pool ready.
